I’m going to bust my ass and get the job done!
Jul 21 2009

This week's dance was Latin. I did the damn thing!!!!!!!! My partner did the damn thing too!!! The dance was very difficult but I persevered. The biggest challenge was the swivel turn going into the cha-cha into the grapevine. I practiced it 200 times. My biggest competition is whoever loses the most weight and works out the most. This week I need to work on staying in the gym and intensifying my workout. I do not want to be on the chopping block this week so I’m going to bust my ass and get the job done!!!!!!! I did not agree with my score from the judges at all. I appreciate the constructive criticism but did not agree.

Stop fighting with your dance partner. As you can tell they can make or break you. Look what one bad choreo did to Miles. She should NEVER have had him do that dance. Ever. The tension between the two of you still shows and it's not attractive.

Don't get discouraged obsessing about your score. You are doing the doggone thing! I am a type 2 diabetic as well and am inspired byt the Ladies on the show to get my game on tight. Stay encouraged knowing that you are encouraging others every week when you dance. Keep on shaking what your mama gave you and keep that blood sugar in check.

Hey MJTQ!! ('Member?) You rocked it again this week! I am so proud of your hard work. It goes to show that when you put your mind to something you can accomplish ANYTHING! I loved seeing the pics of you and Jason at school. You KNOW he would be pokin' his lips out and cussin' about that 1 judge! Keep up the good work - my whole family is rooting for you! Luv you lots. Mara.. Just because you are diabetic, doesn't mean you have to remain one.. My grandfather was diabetic and had hypertension... He's neither now! What did he do? He became a vegan and exercised regularly......Yeah, I'm not big on the vegan idea either... but it worked for him..!

Hi Mara: I know we sometimes feel that we aren't getting the right scores, but keep in mind it has a lot to do with the way we connect with our trainers/partners. Stop fighting with your trainer. He's there for you, not against you. If you don't look good, he won't look good. You're there to learn as well as lose weight. All of that is interconnected. Keep up the good work, girl.

Hey, Mara! I'm big on Latin dancing myself, and one of the toughest things I have to keep in mind is to not back-lead. Unless I'm acting as the lead -coughMancough-, I always have to remind myself to not try and guess my partner's move for him. Even if it's routine, I have to wait for the signal. It's tough, especially with so little time to get it down, but I think you did a-okay! Keep it up!

Seen this on rerun, and ever more convinced you wuz robbed! Regardless of the partnering critique (which I didn't see except as a plus, you maintained rhythm, steps, plenty of hip action, more than many that night. So keep it up, you Black Magic Woman, you!

I can see your hard work and discipline. I am trying to lose weight too. I started at 318lb.s and am now down to 287 in six weeks. I know it is hard. But we have to keep at it and teach our body's a new way to live. I see your determination and it helps me everyweek don't let any disagreement get in your way. You help inspire me. Don't quit, that is the only true failure. Everything else is just something we can learn from and use as a stepping to succeed. Thank you for your inspiration

Hello Mara!!! I wanted to wish you the best of luck. I worked with your brother, Jason, at EDS and we shared alot of great laughs. I know he's looking down on you and smilling at the progress you have made thus far. So know that Jason is not forgotten and many of his ex-coworkers/ friends are here in Texas cheering for you.

You just weren't on your game this week. Maybe you shouldn't argue with your dance partner. He is the professional. It's like you have a great performance if you are into the genre, but if not your face shows that you are so struggling. Judges are getting pickier, but they have to weed folks out. Stay on your workout and you just might have a chance. Kind of watch your facial expressions when judges are giving your score.

Hi, Mara! I think the judges were being strict with the traditional "man leads, woman follows" in ballroom dancing. I can understand that but it did seem like they were a bit harsh. I think that as the competition wears on, their expectations of you guys as individuals and as a group are getting higher and higher. I know that professional dancers are typically very intense about competition (they have to be). Maybe you can pick your partner's brain to help you see things the way the judges do--kind of like, reading a teacher to see how you can perform in their class to get the best possible grade. Also, I just wanted to tell you that you are faaaabulous...(but you KNEW this already) I think you are a very talented dancer and I love the judges, for the most part, but they ARE human. I always have to make sure my "head is on straight" when you perform, because there is nothing predictable about the way you approach dance (your gumbo vibe, LOL!)and I always feel like I'm LEARNING when I see you in action. I believe that you have what it takes to win this competition. You are awesome, in the truest sense of the word. Love and respect to you.

Ok girl, suck it up and move forward....you are one of my favorites!!! I think maybe they were a little harsh...however...I think they know you can handle it! So was doesn't break us only makes us stronger! And for you and your partner, put that madness behind you and don't let them see you sweat....don't them get to you anymore cause its starting to show! Pull yourself out of it and DYAO and win this thing!!!!! your doing great!!!

Congrats Mara on staying in the competition and doing so well thus far. I'm rooting for ya. I think I know why the judges scored you low. Although, I love them for being so honest and straight forward, sometimes I think they take in to account lots more than just your dance routine. Even though you and your partner reconciled and got through this week, it was obvious that you two had some disagreements. I don't think judges like it when anyone has issues with one of their own. I think they feel as if it's disrespectful in some way to go against what they see as someone trying to help you. Girl...I could be wrong as all get out, but I think when on a reality show sometimes you just have to suck it up and go with the flow no matter how much adversity gets in the way...you feel me? Well let me know what you think. I'm proud of you no matter what score you got and if you keep your weight loss up you can always come out on top. Good Luck and God Bless.

Hi Mara, I thought you got an unfair score as well. I hope that you concentrate more on your weight loss. I went from 267 lbs to 158 lbs with out the aid of pills and surgery. You are able to conquer your dreams. You are a true inspiration to all. God bless you in your endeavors.
