
My life has changed in several ways since the show. I have completely changed my lifestyle. It is now part of my daily life to eat healthy and work out at least 5 times a week. It is no longer a chore for me. I am a happier person and feel so much better by eating healthy and working out. Since the show I realized that all my dreams came true and I now have to create new ones. My friends and family see me in a completely different light. I’ve inspired so many people around me and they, in turn, inspire me to continue this wonderful lifestyle. Since the show I know there is nothing I can’t do, I know how hard I can push myself and I now know that I am a stronger person than I believed I was.
When I first got home I was actually afraid to eat any junk food because I was afraid that I would gain all the weight back from one bite. But that first week I think I went ahead and had a peanut butter sandwich, which is my favorite.
Being back home was extremely difficult because I knew that I still had a long journey ahead of me to get to my ideal weight. Being injured with a pre-stress fracture and not being mobile for about 2 months was really a challenge and extremely frustrating. So I just focused on maintaining the weight I had already lost. I even got so impatient with not being able to exercise that I disregarded the healing of my injury that I started dancing on it and made it worse, so I went back to being immobile once again.
Due to my injury I’ve been able to maintain my weight loss, but once my foot got better I’ve been running, taking spin classes, dance classes and now I love hiking! So I religiously hike 5 miles at Griffith park 5 times a week. The scale hasn’t moved much but I’ve lost inches and I am stronger and toned. I’ve learned that my body builds muscle a lot faster than losing weight. I am also currently training for the Malibu triathlon on September 13th with my relay team. I am doing the swim portion which is half a mile, so every weekend I swim 1 mile in the ocean to prepare for race day. I definitely have kept active and see my body transforming one day at a time.
