Your BMI (body mass index) is an evaluation generally used to determine whether you're at a healthy weight, overweight or underweight. It's a standard scale that can be used regardless of your age, gender or build. A BMI of between 18.6 and 24.9 is considered normal. Experts generally consider a BMI below 20 to be underweight. BMIs of 25 to 30 are generally considered overweight, while a BMI over 30 is generally considered very overweight (obese).

BMI < 18.5 Underweight
BMI = 25.0 to 29.9 Overweight
BMI > 30.0 Obese
Disclaimer: BMI may be used to gauge obesity, though it is not always a reliable indicator. For example, people with large body frames or lots of muscle mass may have a higher-than-expected BMI. You should consult with your doctor to determine additional factors, such as waist circumference and risk for diseases, when calculating total body fat and risk of obesity.
